Tom and Scott Atkins have won multiple awards for their renovation of the Atkins City Centre. Once a stately downtown building, it underwent drastic "improvements" in 1965 that removed windows and covered the building with aluminum siding. The newly restored brick building now houses a bookstore, art gallery, coffee shop and more. For their next project, the Atkins are placing two buildings on Eighth and Broadway onto the National Historic Register in anticipation of their renovation.
